Its based off of free code, so there are one (look for "A DirectShow based video capture and viewing application) or two free options out there, that may be more user friendly. but the main result in Google is a shareware program. I had found a program called "AmCap" before that looked like a nice little capture program. I know there are many options I just gloss over. You can also go to "audio" and change your compression settings there, as well as if you want audio at all (you can probably add in audio later). The Blaze Media Pro software includes a powerful video capture feature that can capture from any WDM / DirectX-enabled video device, such as TV tuner cards, FireWire cameras, USB / USB2 cameras, PCI and PC-Card grabbers, and DV (digital video) devices. "no compression" will make for HUGE files, fyi. Under "Video" you can go to "compression" and change the format it captures your video in. then under "device" choose your capture card. You can try Virtualdub - It can recompress video, cut/crop, and also capture video from other devices. Did you want to record what was on the screen (like clicking around on the desktop)? Then you can go for Camstudio, a very nice FREE bit of software (they also offer a free "lossless" codec, which means you get better quality and less stuttering or lag than using something like DiVX or xvid-just be sure to recompress the file later so you won't be using gigs of hard drive space).Īs for recording from your capture device.
